Large Sungrazing Comet Makes Death Plunge Toward Sun – Solar Filament Eruption Misses Earth

A comet just fell into the sun. Coronagraphs onboard the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO) recorded its death dive, which began on August 6th. New images on August 7th show no comet. The comet evaporated. The doomed comet was almost certaintly a “Kreutz sungrazer,” a fragment from a giant comet that broke apart many centuries ago. A swarm of these fragments orbits the sun, and every week at least one gets too close and disintegrates. Most, measuring less than a few meters across, are too small to see, but occasionally a big one like today’s attracts attention. SOLAR FILAMENT ERUPTION, MISSES EARTH A magnetic filament in the sun’s southern hemisphere snapped during the early hours of Aug. 6th, hurling pieces of itself into space. NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory recorded the eruption. The debris will not hit Earth. An associated CME was modelled and determined to be a miss. Meanwhile, there are three more filaments arrayed across the sun’s southern hemisphere, and two of them are almost directly facing our planet. Maybe next time. Thanks for watching!

Since the Bible is a collection of ancient works by various authors, it will often make a passing reference to a character who is never mentioned again. This of course leads to all kinds of theories from readers and biblical scholars about what their importance actually is.
