The answer invokes an equation or proposition of identity: Saturn can be set at the head and the Sun relegated to second (or penultimate) place because Saturn is the Sun. Therefore, where we see Saturn we also see the Sun (and vice versa): and so, arcanely and by paradox and enigma, it is still the Sun that we find at the head. Now this identification of Saturn with the Sun is not something deduced from the known doctrine of the Mysteries or inferred from their iconography.Rather, it is a “fact” of exoteric “science,” on which, I would claim, the Mysteries drew for the design and validation of their unique planetary and grade order. In ancient astrology it is widely attested – although not to the extent of being a routine commonplace known to all – that Saturn was the star of the Sun. William Shatner is opening up more about his life-changing trip to the edge of space, why it freaked him out so badly, and how it turned him into an environmentalist.
In an editorial for The Guardian, the 91-year-old “Star Trek” actor wrote that although he “knew that many before me had experienced a greater sense of care while contemplating our planet from above,” what he felt was entirely different: the “deepest grief” he’d ever experienced in his life.
The Shat-man hasn’t previously shied away from describing the horror he experienced when peering out into the void from a Blue Origin capsule that went up last fall. In his recent memoir, “Boldly Go: Reflections on a Life of Awe and Wonder,” the actor said that when he looked at space, he could only see death.
He continues that thread in his Guardian editorial, expounding on what he meant.
“What I understood, in the clearest possible way, was that we were living on a tiny oasis of life, surrounded by an immensity of death,” Shatner wrote. “I didn’t see infinite possibilities of worlds to explore, of adventures to have, or living creatures to connect with. I saw the deepest darkness I could have ever imagined, contrasting starkly with the welcoming warmth of our nurturing home planet.”
This realization was like “immensely powerful” and profoundly sad for the “Boston Legal” superstar because, as he wrote, it awakened him to how foolhardy it is to look outwards into space while we humans are in the process of utterly decimating our climate.
“I played my part in [popularizing] the idea that space was the final frontier,” he admitted. “But I had to get to space to understand that Earth is, and will remain, our only home. And that we have been ravaging it, relentlessly, making it uninhabitable.”
Shatner’s raison d’être is now, it appears, turning back the tide of our climate degradation. The Montreal-born actor went on to implore bold action from the diplomats attending the United Nations’ COP15 biodiversity summit in his hometown, which is currently taking place.
“We need world leaders to give their diplomats a powerful mandate for these talks: agree on strong targets to change the way we produce food, to drastically cut pollution, and to conserve 50 percent of our planet’s land and ocean,” he wrote, “with the active leadership of Indigenous peoples and local communities, who have historically been pioneers on all these necessary actions.”
Being the oldest person to ever go to space was, as Shatner makes clear in this editorial and in his chilling “Boldly Go” excerpt about his nightmarish trip to the final frontier, a life-changing experience that was less of the beatific and almost psychedelic experience described by some space travelers and instead was something of a mental phantasmagoria for the Canadian actor.
Nevertheless, it instilled in him a deep, if not late-in-life, commitment to saving the planet from the worst effects of climate change.
“I will do everything I can so that we can protect our one and only home,” he wrote. “Our world leaders have an immense responsibility to do the same in Montreal.”
William Shatner Says His Space Trip Left Him With a Feeling of Terrible Grief
During his maiden voyage to space, “Star Trek” icon William Shatner had an awe-inspiring experience — but it wasn’t necessarily positive.
“So, I went to space,” reads a Variety-published excerpt from Shatner’s new book, “Boldly Go: Reflections on a Life of Awe and Wonder.”
After describing the exhilarating launch procedure and beginning of his zero-gravity excursion, Shatner wrote that when he turned around to look into the void of space, he was shocked by the emptiness he found.
“When I looked in the opposite direction, into space, there was no mystery, no majestic awe to behold,” Shatner wrote. “All I saw was death.”
In spite of his conceptual love of space — after all, he played Captain Kirk on “Star Trek” during the beginning of the space race — and the mystery it presented, what Shatner was forced to contend with in the real thing was far from what he expected.
“I saw a cold, dark, black emptiness,” he wrote. “It was unlike any blackness you can see or feel on Earth. It was deep, enveloping, all-encompassing.”
After looking back “toward the light of home,” Shatner described an intense homesickness for the planet he had just left.
“I turned back toward the light of home,” the “TJ Hooker” star wrote. “I could see the curvature of Earth, the beige of the desert, the white of the clouds and the blue of the sky. It was life. Nurturing, sustaining, life. Mother Earth. Gaia. And I was leaving her.”
“Everything I had thought was wrong,” he concluded. “Everything I had expected to see was wrong.”
Many space travelers have described an experience termed the “Overview Effect,” or a sense of euphoria and interconnectedness stemming from viewing Earth from above. Shatner alluded to the phenomenon, but even his takeaway there sounds unusually dark.
“When someone travels to space and views Earth from orbit,” he wrote, “a sense of the planet’s fragility takes hold in an ineffable, instinctive manner.”
“The contrast between the vicious coldness of space and the warm nurturing of Earth below filled me with overwhelming sadness,” Shatner added. “My trip to space was supposed to be a celebration; instead, it felt like a funeral.”
While this is the most detailed description of Shatner’s trip to space, it was not the first time the “Star Trek” star had spoken publicly about it.
Shortly after landing from his spaceflight, which took place almost exactly a year ago, Shatner thanked Blue Origin founder Jeff Bezos profusely for the trip.
“What you have given me is the most profound experience,” he told Bezos through tears. “I hope I never recover from this.”
If his memoir is any indicator, Shatner has seemingly kept that hope alive.

Gospel of Judas– After being lost for nearly 1,700 years, the Gospel of Judas was recently restored, authenticated, and translated. Gospel of Judas, Jesus tells Judas that the disciples, including Judas, are not part of the Holy Generation.
They will not ascend to the transcendent realms as Gnostic elect. Instead, the disciples are ignorant priests who worship Ialdabaoth rather than the transcendent God.
Unknowingly, they are leading myriads of Christians astray with their erroneous teachings about Jesus’ sacrificial death and rituals like the Eucharist, or communion, which are nothing more than tricks Ialdabaoth has put into place so that he alone is worshiped (36:11–40:26, 44:15–45:13-19, 46:5-47.1).
For Sethians, the transcendent God does not require bloody sacrifices or rituals that reenact them. Jesus teaches Judas everything there is to know about Judas’s imminent involvement in Jesus’ arrest and death, before the action happens.
So Judas has foreknowledge of what he is going to do, which makes his actions conscious, if not deliberate.
Fourth, Jesus informs Judas that there is nothing Judas can do about this. It is his fate, however horrible this may seem (46:5-47:1).
Upon hearing this, Judas becomes full of wrath and consequently goes on to betray Jesus to the priests and brings about Jesus’ sacrificial death to the chief archon (56:11–58:26).
Certainly this story is unfamiliar to us because it is told from the perspective of the Sethian Gnostics, who did not like the conventional Christian story. This gospel mocks the early apostolic Christian story and its doctrines by pointing out its inconsistencies.
If Jesus’ death really is a redemptive sacrifice that atones for sins, why is it that Judas is the one who made this possible? Isn’t Judas the same person whom the early apostolic Christians cursed and the New Testament says was a devil and Satan?
Indeed, these Gnostics reasoned, Judas was working as a demon, and this demon was the god of the Old Testament. As long as Christians did not realize this—as long as they continued to be led astray by the teachings of the twelve apostles who were the cornerstone of the early apostolic churches—they would remain servants of Ialdabaoth and never return home to the transcendent God.
